Before you start
This will help you fill out the court forms to ask for a domestic violence restraining order in California. We ask each question once and fill in every form for you.
- It's free to file. A judge usually decides on temporary orders the same day or the next business day.
- Your court date is usually about three weeks later. A long-term order can last up to five years.
- You can ask for an order even if you are not a U.S. citizen.
- You must be 12 or older to ask on your own. These forms do not end a marriage.
Nothing is saved. Your answers stay on this screen only. If you close or refresh the page, they are gone. At the end you'll download your forms.
Need to leave fast? Press Esc or the Quick exit button at any time. It clears everything.
This version makes the filing forms (DV-100, DV-109, DV-110, CLETS-001, DV-900 for a phone transfer) and, if you ask for custody, the child custody forms (DV-105, DV-140, and DV-108 and DV-145 to prevent abduction). Child and spousal support requests need financial forms that are coming next.
